About the role
For this role, you will need to have extensive communications experience in print, digital and social media. You will need to have experience in landing media coverage across international, national and trade media.  

Duties:


Shape and implement the Department’s communications strategy, ensuring alignment with broader University initiatives and branding guidelines.
Create, edit, and oversee a wide range of content, including press materials, website stories, social media posts, briefings, and reactive statements.
Act as the first point of contact for media enquiries, providing expert handling and building strong relationships with national and trade press.
Support senior leadership and faculty, including media training, strategic advice, and communications planning to enhance profile and research impact.
Use analytics tools to evaluate communications performance, reporting on outcomes and using insights to inform future strategy.
Lead internal collaboration and team coordination, guiding junior colleagues, managing task allocation, and ensuring effective cross-Department and University engagement.

Selection criteria:


Educated to degree level or equivalent professional experience. 
Extensive communications experience in print, digital and social media. 
PR experience is highly beneficial.
Proven experience in landing media coverage across international, national, trade media. 
Excellent writing skills and attention to detail, with a proven ability to communicate complex concepts to a non-specialist audience.
